Q: How can I place an order?
A: Contact an authorized Fanimation dealer. Refer to the Dealer Locator page on this website for information on the dealer nearest you.
Q: How can I find out the price of the fan I want?
A: Contact your nearest dealer, give that dealer the specifics on the fan you wish to order (blade, lighting, finish and accessory options), and the dealer will provide the price of the fan you wish to purchase.
Q: Can I purchase Fanimation blades for my Hunter, Casablanca or Emerson fans?
A: No. The motor, flywheel and bladeholder on our fans have been specifically designed to run properly with Fanimation blade sets. Other manufacturers' motors will not be compatible with the size and weight of our blade sets. For this reason, Fanimation does not sell blades or bladeholders separately.
Q: I live in an area/country where Fanimation does not have any dealers nearby. How can I place an order?
A: Contact the international customer service representative or the national sales manager, toll-free at 888-567-2055.
Q: How can I get a freight/shipping estimate for my order?
A: Your Fanimation dealer will be able to provide those cost estimates to you.
Q: How can I return my fan or exchange it for another color/size?
A: Contact the dealer from whom you originally purchased the fan system. The dealer will explain the return process and policies. However, it should be noted that, unless defective or shipped in error, we do not accept returns on natural palm leaf blades, downrods, extension poles or "built-to-order" fan systems, including The Americana¨, The Bourbon Street¨, The PunkahTM, The Brewmaster¨, The Palmetto¨, and The PedestalTM.
Q: Will my fan come with replacement blades?
A: When ordering a fan with a palm blade set, you will receive two spare blades. The wicker, bamboo, canvas, OcoeeTM and wood blade sets do not contain any spare/replacement blades.
Q: Is the belting sold separately or included with your fan belt systems?
A: For the Fanimation belt-driven fans, the proper amount of belting is included with the fan. If you would like to purchase extra belting or you need to replace the belting on your fan, contact your dealer to assist you.
Q: Does Fanimation have damp location fans? Are your fans intended for outdoor use?
A: Fanimation has several models designed for damp location, which are available only in specific finishes. These fans have been specially designed for locations that are damp or humid, such as porches, verandas, waterfront homes and patios. However, even with fan models that are designed for Damp Locations, the outlet box and the fan itself must be completely under cover and not exposed directly to water spray or rain. Fans that are designed for Damp Locations are not meant to be used outdoors or in wet locations.
Q: What blades are recommended for fans that are designed for Damp Locations?
A: The blade sets we recommend for fans that are designed for Damp Locations are the wicker, woven bamboo (any color/shape), canvas, or the OcoeeTM. The only blade we would specifically discourage for use in damp locations is the natural palm leaf blade.
Q: Can any Fanimation fans be operated by a remote control?
A: Yes, Fanimation handheld remote control units can be used on the following fans: The TreventiTM, The SandellaTM, The EvanesceTM, The Old Havana¨, The EscaladeTM, The Enigma¨, The Islander¨, The Louvre¨, The Tropicana¨, The Americana¨ and The PedestalTM.
Q: Can I reverse the fan with my handheld remote control or wall control?
A: The TreventiTM, The SandellaTM, The Islander¨, The Louvre¨, The Tropicana¨, The Americana¨ and The PedestalTM fans can be reversed using a handheld or wall control. The fans listed above require the SW50 and either the C20 or C21 remote controls.
Q: Will my "non-Fanimation" remote/speed control work on Fanimation fans?
A: Fanimation does not test other manufacturers' products at our factory. If a customer wishes to attempt to control a Fanimation fan with a "non-Fanimation" remote control, Fanimation will not be held responsible for any damage that may occur. If customers do use a "non-Fanimation" remote control, it must have set speeds and not gradual/infinite controls, which may damage the fan, cause humming and other noises and cause the fan to work improperly.
Q: Which fan/blade combination provides maximum air movement?
A: The more narrow blades (e.g., the standard oar and the narrow oval) provide a greater amount of airflow. The use of heavier blade materials (e.g., bamboo, wicker or OcoeeTM) also increases airflow.
Q: How should I clean the blades on my fan?
A: Dust them regularly with a feather duster or soft dusting brush. Because of their coating and durability, the wicker, bamboo, wood and OcoeeTM blades can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
Q: My fan is wobbling. What can I do to fix this?
A: Check that the hanger ball (on the downrod) is locked into its slot in the hanger bracket. Also, check to ensure that each bladeholder is screwed into the flywheel securely. If wobbling continues, try rearranging the blades around the flywheel.
Q: My fan is making a humming sound. How can I fix this?
A: Make sure you are using the appropriate Fanimation speed control. If you are doing so, and the fan is still humming, you may have a faulty control and replacing the control may solve the problem. If you are using another type of control that does not have set speeds (low, medium, high), that is probably the cause of the noise.
Q: The fan is making a squeaking noise. What can I do to fix this?
A: Make sure all connections are tight; ceiling canopy, hanger ball, downrod support, blade holders, flywheel set screw, switch cup housing, light kit or fitter.
Q: My fan is not turning at all. How can I fix this?
A: Make sure you are using the appropriate Fanimation speed control. You should also check to make sure the "reverse switch" on the switch housing cap at the bottom of the fan is pushed completely up or down. If this switch is in the middle, the fan will not run. Also check the wire connection in the outlet box.
Q: Is there a guarantee/warranty on the fan blades?
A: The fan blades are not guaranteed/warranted for any specified amount of time. Depending on the use and location of the fan, you should expect to replace your palm leaf blades every three to five years. The wicker, bamboo, OcoeeTM and canvas blades should not need to be replaced for at least 10 years. Of course, if you receive a blade set with damaged blades in it, Fanimation will replace any blades needed to hang the fan.
Q: What is the warranty on my Fanimation fan?
A: The warranty varies from fan to fan. Check with your dealer for warranty information on your specific fan model.
Q: What is the blade sweep of a fan?
A: The blade sweep of a fan is generally the circular area that is covered by the fan's blades while in rotation. The diameter of a fan's blade sweep, on fans with multiple blades, is measured by taking the distance from the edge of one blade to the edge of the opposite blade. See your fan's specifications sheet for more information about blade sweep.
Q: What is the RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) rate for my fan?
A: The RPM varies greatly, depending on the blade size and material, the pole length and the space between the fan and the ceiling or wall. Smaller 18" blades, as well as blades of lighter material, increase the RPM rate. Check the specifications sheet of your fan or contact your dealer for the approximate RPM rate of your specific fan.
Q: Are Fanimation fans available in a 220-volt version for international use?
A: There are certain fans and finishes that are available with a 220-volt motor. Click on the Products section of our website. Then, check the features on the product page for the fan style you are interested in to see if a 220-volt motor is available. You can also contact your nearby Fanimation dealer for specifics on availability. These fans do require an increased lead time of approximately 4-6 weeks. Some models will require additional lead time; see your dealer for details.
Q: Which Fanimation fans accept a light kit or fitter?
A: All of the Fanimation fans accept light kits, except for The PunkahTM, and the The PedestalTM.
Q: Can I use a light kit or fitter that is not manufactured by Fanimation?
A: Most standard light kits and fitters will fit the housing of Fanimation fans. However, we do not test these products made by other manufacturers and therefore, we cannot guarantee that they will work properly on Fanimation products.
Q: What is the difference between a light kit and a fitter?
A: A fitter requires glass. A light kit contains all the hardware, attachment pieces and glass required for use on the fan.
Q. Are light bulbs included with Fanimation light kits?
A: The only light kit that includes the bulbs is The EscaladeTM, which comes with a set of six 35-watt, 120V halogen double contact bayonet-style light bulbs. The Enigma¨ fan itself features uplights, and four 20-watt, 12V halogen bulbs are included with the purchase of The Enigma fan.
Q: Can I use another manufacturer's glass in my Fanimation fitter?
A: The Fanimation four-light fitters that require four pieces of glass will take most standard 2 1/4" glass pieces.
Q: How can I extend my pole farther than your longest pole, which is 72"?
A: The downrod and the extension poles can be extended by using a coupler to join two poles together. You will need to purchase a combination of downrods/extension poles that equal the desired length and then purchase the corresponding coupler to join them together. We do not recommend extending the drop farther than 10-12 feet.
Q: How much length does the light kit add to the overall drop of the fan?
A: The light kits are between 3 1/2-7 1/2" overall. Simply add this dimension to the overall drop length of the fan.
Q: Is a downrod and/or extension pole included with every Fanimation fan?
A: No. The Fanimation fans that include a 6" downrod are The TreventiTM, The SandellaTM, The EscaladeTM, The Enigma¨, The Islander¨, The Louvre¨, and The Tropicana¨. The PedestalTM and The Palisade¨ do not include an extension pole, but one is necessary for installation.
Q: Can I cut the downrod/extension pole to my desired length?
A: If necessary the downrods and extension poles can be cut to your desired length. It is not recommended to cut the downrod less than 6" or the extension pole less than 24". If cutting is necessary, using a licensed electrician is recommended.
